Safety and scams to avoid

  • Fake Bromo Tour Agents at Malang Station

Malang Kota (main) and Malang Kota Lama train stations

Touts approach arrivals claiming to be "official Bromo tour operators." They quote low prices (IDR 100,000) then add hidden fees (jeep surcharge, entrance fee, "national park permit") that double the cost at Cemoro Lawang checkpoint.

How to avoid it: Book Bromo day tours only through your hotel or verified operators on Klook/GetYourGuide. Actual government-run jeep prices from Cemoro Lawang are fixed and posted at the jeep cooperative office.
