Beach Rental "Damage" Scam

Water sports equipment rentals (jet ski, kayak, SUP boards) often have vague rental agreements. Operators claim post-use damage on equipment with pre-existing wear and demand cash repairs before returning the security deposit.
How to avoid it: Photograph equipment before and after use. Only rent from operators who provide a written receipt with the security deposit amount. Pay deposit by card where possible. Check Google Reviews of the specific operator.
