Safety and scams to avoid
Ile aux Cerfs Boat Trip Overcharging
Trou d'Eau Douce jetty and Belle Mare beach road
Independent boatmen and touts along the jetty and beach road offer cut-price "direct" speedboat trips to Ile aux Cerfs, quoting a low headline price then adding charges for waterfall stops, barbecue lunch or return timing once passengers are already on the water.
How to avoid it: Book Ile aux Cerfs trips through your hotel tour desk or a Tourism Authority-licensed catamaran/speedboat operator with a clear, written all-inclusive price. Avoid the cheapest cash-only touts on the jetty.
