Getting around

  • Walking

Every city has walking. 2.5 km ceiling is a placeholder default, not a researched per-city figure -- Singapore is sheltered and air-conditioned, Bangkok often has no pavement.

Safety and scams to avoid

  • Ile aux Aigrettes Boat Transfer Overcharging

Mahébourg Waterfront and Pointe d'Esny jetty area

Independent boatmen approach tourists near the jetty offering cheaper "direct" boat transfers to Ile aux Aigrettes or Blue Bay outside the official Mauritian Wildlife Foundation booking system, then charge more than agreed once at sea.

How to avoid it: Book Ile aux Aigrettes visits through the official Mauritian Wildlife Foundation reservation desk. For Blue Bay glass-bottom boats, use operators displaying official permits at the marked kiosks.
